Vintage hand mixer or eggbeater from the 50s

SKU: 787

Vintage hand mixer or eggbeater from the '50s.

Semi-antique mixer made of wood, iron and plastic made in the fifties. This manual mixer consists of a large two-sided gear that is connected to two smaller gears. By turning the handle, the small gear turns. Because the small gears are at the end of the beats, the beats will turn (in the opposite direction). Because one gear is larger than the two small gears, an acceleration occurs.

Nowadays manual mixers have fallen out of use and have been replaced by electric variants.

This egg beater is in a vintage condition. The iron sections are oxidized. The entire mechanism is still outstanding and this mixer, if wanted, can still be used.

Beautiful piece of decoration in a rural kitchen.

  • Length: 28 cm.
  • Width: 13 cm.

An eggbeater is a handheld device with a crank on the side geared to one or more beaters. The user grips the handle with one hand and operates the crank with the other, creating the rotary action.

A mixer is a kitchen utensil which uses a gear-driven mechanism to rotate a set of beaters in a bowl containing the food to be prepared. It automates the repetitive tasks of stirring, whisking or beating. When the beaters are replaced by a dough hook, a mixer may also be used to knead.

A mixer may be a handheld mechanism known as an eggbeater, a handheld motorized beater, or a stand mixer. Stand mixers vary in size from small countertop models for home use to large capacity commercial machines. Stand mixers create the mixing action by rotating the mixing device vertically (planetary mixers), or by rotating the mixing container (spiral mixers).
