Vintage old Dutch wooden ice skates marked G.H. Nijdam, Oranjewoud, 1937-1968SKU: 239
Real vintage old Dutch wooden ice skates or "Friese doorlopers" by G.H. Nijdam, Oranjewoud.
Before 1970 most touring skates had a wooden foot-plate which was attached to the boot with leather straps.
A 'Friese doorloper' (also known as 'botjes' or 'houtjes') is a wooden skate type, having one of iron, which is bound by the shoe. Although all wooden skates are often called 'Frisian', real Friese doorlopers are skates wherein the iron leads all the way to below the hock. In many wooden skates the Iron stops at mid heel.
