Koninklijke De Ruijter is a producer of typical Dutch spreads, such as sprinkles, fruit hail, mice, chocolate flakes, aniseed and crushed mice.

De Ruijter's slogan is: 'De Ruijter, the bread-maker since 1860', the year in which the company was founded by CR (Cees) de Ruijter.

De Ruijter was founded in 1860 by Cornelis Rutgerus de Ruijter. He opened a bakery in the Brinkstraat at no. C108 in Baarn, from where he sold birth socks.

In 1928 the factory was expanded and located on the D'Aulnis de Bourouilllaan in Baarn. De Ruijter also started producing anise cubes and fruit hail. De Ruijter took over the chocolate factory in Campen from Alkmaar in 1955 and then started to produce chocolate flakes. De Ruijter took over chocolate factory Erven de Jong from Wormerveer in 1957 and started with the production of chocolate sprinkles.

In 1983 De Ruijter was taken over by CSM. De Ruijter added Zwaardemaker (from Maarssen) and Venz (from Vaassen) to his company in 1990. In 2001, Koninklijke De Ruijter, together with Hak, Honig and a few other companies, was sold by CSM to Heinz . De Ruijter moved in 2007 from Baarn to the production facilities of Heinz in Utrecht.

In 1883, King William III appointed De Ruijter as purveyor to the court. In 1985 the company received the predicate Royal on the occasion of the 125th anniversary.
