Samuel Meijering Rolykit storage system from 1973

The Rolykit is a hexagonal roll-up storage system. It was invented in 1973 by the film director Samuel Meijering.

Meijering was distracted by the mess on his desk when working on a film script. He started thinking about a solution and then started drawing. Finally, he crafted the cardboard design himself.

With his ex-classmate at the film academy Gied Jaspars, Meijering founded the company Golden Inventions, which sold Rolykit's rights for 1 million guilders to the producer Van der Molen. Worldwide, 17 million copies were sold.

The Rolykit can be rolled out in one go, while in all the compartments of this storage box the contents simply remain in place. The "secret" of the Rolykit is that when unrolling, each storage compartment is only accessible when it is flat on the surface. If the storage compartments are finally re-assembled, the bottom of one compartment becomes the lid of another compartment.

ROLYKIT, a cleverly designed compact storage box that, when "rolled out" provides a large number of compartments which can hold any kind of small parts like bolts, screws, nuts, etc. When rolled up, the box has a hexagonal shape and keeps all items stored inside neatly at their place through a clever locking mechanism. This special feature of the rolling storage is patented in over 30 countries worldwide.
