Ringers
Ringers was the name of an old Dutch factory for luxury cocoa and chocolate items that existed from 1905 to 1972 and was located in Alkmaar and Rotterdam.

The Ringers chocolate and bonbon factory was founded in 1905 by Hendrik ('Henk') Ringers (April 27, 1880 - March 25, 1975). He was the son of a contractor and brother of the later minister of Public Works and Reconstruction Johan Ringers, who later became the commissioner at the company.

Hendrik received his training at pastry shops in Amsterdam (1901), at the famous chocolate factory 'Cailler' in Vevey (where after decades of experiments milk chocolate was invented, now part of Nestlé), and in Paris.

In Switzerland, the idea arose to set up a chocolate factory in the Netherlands and to match the quality of Swiss chocolate. To this end, he immersed himself in the history of chocolate and the cocoa bean. He wanted to make the chocolate from the bean himself, in contrast to other Dutch chocolate factories that bought semi-finished products from cocoa ready-to-eat.

His dream became a reality thanks to the support and financial help from his family. Hendrik opened on 3 April 1905 a 'Chocolate and Bonbon Factory' at the Varnebroek 15-17 in Alkmaar where initially five people worked. Because of the good quality, the product soon acquired a good name, and Ringers chocolate was eagerly attracted.

The factory was known as one of the most modern of its kind in Europe. In addition to chocolate, they also produced cocoa butter and cocoa powder.

Ringers issued albums, just like Verkade. These Ringers albums could be filled with pictures that were part of the company's products.
