West-Germany pottery
For a long period of time, the West Germany vases were considered hideous, but times have changed.

Between 1950 and 1990, several factories brought this colorful pottery onto the market, including Scheurich, Jasba, and Bay. West-Germany vases are characterized by the use of beautiful (primary) colors and shapes. Colors that were widely used were orange, brown, ocher and green. But also purple, yellow and red are colors were often used.

A real West-Germany vase can be recognized at the bottom. Among others, the manufacturers Bay and Scheurich wrote "West-Germany" or "W-Germany" followed by a number combination where the first number indicated the model and the second number the height of the vase or jug.

A vase with a thick glaze layer, often with drip motif is called 'Fat Lava'.
