Buisman aroma, also called Buisman roasted sugar or coffee syrup is a product of the company Buisman. It is a coffee additive consisting of roasted, caramelized glucose syrup and molasses. It is used to improve the taste of coffee.

A small amount of Buisman is added to the coffee when being brewed. 'Buisman' has long been a generic name for roasted sugar on the Dutch consumer market.

In times of coffee and tea scarcity, such as during the continental system set by Napoleon, coffee chicory was a frequently used substitute. When coffee was again on the market to a large extent, chicory was used as an addition, because coffee was expensive and people were used to the taste.

A taste-improving addition was found in coffee syrup. This product made coffee spicier and darker, so that it appeared stronger and could be used with fewer coffee beans.
