Mepal
At the end of 1949, the Dane Egon Wolff founded the Dutch company Mepal Services in The Hague. At the time, the company had the sales rights for the Danish company Rosti.

Mepal Services soon began developing and producing its own line of plastic products. Melamine formaldehyde was used as the plastic. The name was then abbreviated to Mepal and registered as a trademark for the entire Benelux.

The products were designed by freelance designers but since 1971, Mepal also employs its own designers.

In 1963 the company moved to the current location Lochem.
