Brocante is a term that most people have heard of. Everyone has its own thoughts with the concept Brocante. It is originally a Dutch word derived from French, in which it has the meaning of flea market, rarities or second-hand goods. Literally translated, it even means flea market. Brocante also has an affinity with the English word Broker, which stands for 'pawnbroker, or seller of second-hand goods'. The word Brocante used in the Netherlands often stands for old objects that are not valuable or old enough to be able to go for real antiques.
To be regarded as antiques, an object must be at least 100 years old. Brocante also speaks about semi-antique stuff. Brocante stuff does not have to look perfect. The weathered appearance gives brocante the right character and appearance.
