Vintage record stand for storing vinyl singles

  • Manufacturing date: 1955 - 1965

Description
Vintage record stand from the 1950s and 1960s for vinyl singles. Rectangular record stand consisting of two horizontal slats within between every five millimeters a number of vertical pieces of plasticized wire steel bent in a point.

In the 50s and 60s, this was very handy and a must-have for storing singles. An ideal solution! By storing your records in this rack, they did not have to be stacked on top of each other and it prevented damaging them this way.

Made from wood and red and yellow plasticized steel wire. Suitable for storing 50 singles.

Condition
This record stand for singles is in a very neat vintage condition.

A single is a sound carrier with at most one to three songs from an artist or band. It is the cheaper version of an album. The term single, however, is more often used in a metaphorical way to indicate a single track of an album, which is released separately to promote the entire album.

Singles were originally gramophone records, made of vinyl. These vinyl records are usually double-sided and have a size of 7 inches (about 18 cm). They can be played on turntables (pickups) and usually run at a speed of 45 rpm (45 rpm). Because they are playable on both sides, there is an A- and a B-side of a single. The A-side contains the number that was considered the most hit sensitive.

The B-side (also called flipside) usually contains a number of lesser quality, sometimes even something that is generally regarded as bad. It even happens that an artist makes a song just as quickly because the record must have a B-side. There may, however, be a single with 'two A-sides', so two hit-sensitive tracks. An example is Something / Come Together by The Beatles.
