Description
Beautiful vintage cylindrical tin canister for Verkade biskovite executed with a loose slightly bulky lid with three sunflowers. The decoration of this tin consists of an orange background and is provided with a network of yellow diamonds. Vertical five rows with yellow sunflowers and green leaf.

The tin is equipped with rolled edges on the lid as well as on the bottom and top of the can. The rear car has a seamed longitudinal seam. The text Verkade Biskovite Zaandam is embossed on the underside of the bus.

Condition
This tin from Verkade is in a neat vintage condition with normal traces of use and age-related traces of wear.

Verkade is originally a Dutch company that produced items such as rusk, chocolate and cake. Tea lights were also made for some time. The Verkade factories have traditionally been established in Zaandam and are important in the development of the Zaanstreek food industry.

On 2 May 1886, Ericus Gerhardus Verkade opened his steam bread and biscuit factory 'De Ruyter' (the rider) in a former patent oil factory on the Zaan. He simply started making bread and rusks. The success he achieved with this was so great that he regularly added new products to his assortment.

"De Ruyter" is now still recognizable in the logo of the Verkade brand. In the course of time, Verkade switched to making cookies and chocolate.

In 1950 Verkade obtained the predicate Royal.
