Cornelis (Cees) Dekker (1900-1990) was a Dutch artist. He joined the Zaanse Koekfabriek Verkade in 1923 as the first designer, although he actually wanted to become an independent artist. Dekker went on to follow an art course at the Zaandam City School. He received lessons from Willem Jansen and Jac. J. Koeman and also took courses at the Hendrick de Keyzerschool and the Rijksacademie voor Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam.

The Verkade family soon realized the influence of effective advertising. The large amount of paper and cardboard packaging, the biscuit tins and biscuit tins and posters that were designed by Cees Dekker were considerable. Particularly well-known are the advertising posters that praise tea lights, biscuits and long biscuits. In addition to his work for Verkade, he made a cover as a book binding designer around 1924 for a program booklet of the Hollandsche Schouwburg in Amsterdam (with an advertisement for Verkade!).

Before that, Verkade worked with freelance designers, of which Cees Dekker was one. He designed the well-known biscuit maker from 1931, and the biscuit canister with East Indian cherry. Due to the ever increasing workloads, Dekker was in charge of the Verkade advertising studio, which he led for thirty years with the cooperation of a number of colleagues.

Cees Dekker grew up in a baker's family. In the Vinkenstraat in Zaandam was the bread shop of the Dekker family. But Cees didn't see any bread in it. He wanted to become an artist, but his father didn't like that, Cees had to get started to make money.

First he became an office clerk, also learned to be an accountant, but becoming an artist was his intention. After a period of work at the Hellema paper factory on the east side, he got more pleasure in his work. He was even allowed to design there. When, in addition to Verkade, Hille and finally Albert Heijn, became his customers, Dekker was taken on by Verkade.
