Description
A board game for 2 to 4 combative people aged 6 to 66 years and older. Ravensburger Games No. 601 5 409 0.

This is a game that really offers what the title promises: a game for combative people. The baricades must be cleared and re-thrown. It is therefore a game of attack and defense and is therefore more exciting than all other games released in this area.

Barricade (literally: barrage) is a board game with simple rules for 2 to 4 players, a variant of man-worse-you-don't. It is a game of attack and defense, so strategy and luck also play a role through dice.

Each player starts with five pawns. The barricades that block the road are placed at certain strategic points, and the goal is to get rid of these barricades and finally reach the goal. The players all start on one side, the goal is on the other side. In the field there are two "bottlenecks" (bottlenecks) that you have to go through: it is no coincidence that a number of barricades were placed here at the start of the game. Players can hit each other, just like you don't. They can also strike barricades, which in that case may be replaced in any place except the first row. The trick is to get rid of the barricades in this way and place them in such a way that they hinder the opponents optimally. Whoever gets one pawn on the target first wins.

Barricade can be called a classic within the Ravensburger range. Werner Schöppner wrote a letter to Ravensburger in 1959 in which he describes that he has developed a game and has already played with many people with great pleasure. He claimed that the game remains equally exciting for all population groups and ages. With his game idea, he had made the best of Pachisi, according to the game expert Eugen Oker. That is promising. Who can make an age-old game even better, has a classic in hand.

Game experts claim that this game is indeed something of Pachisi: playing figures move after a dice roll over the game board and should move to a common target field. That's right. However, the shape of the trail is clearly different. Not a circular course with a central target field, but a kind of stairs with different side branches going upwards.

Each player places his 5 pawns on his own starting square at the bottom of the game board. White playing stones are placed at important intersections on the course. The game takes its name from these playing stones: barricades. As long as these are there, no pawn can pass. So they are real obstacles. The players move their own pawns as many squares as the dice indicated. They may move freely in any direction of your choice, but may not go back and forth on the same turn. Pawns can jump over their own or strange pawns. If your pawn ends exactly in the place of another, it is captured and must be returned to its own starting space. The barricades can be moved after a pawn ends exactly on it.

At the start of the game, they are in designated places, but when moving, they can be moved to any free space (except the bottom row). The game ends as soon as a player can finish their own pawn exactly on the highest square. This player wins the game. The back of the rule sheet gives some tactical tips. This means that there is more to this game than just rolling, moving, hitting and shifting barricades.

Every move has its consequences. When moving a barricade, be careful not to block your own pawns or other pawns to get through suddenly. Fortunately, the game does not require heavy thinking and therefore plays wonderfully in a family context. The wooden halma cones charm, the game board is well thought out and the teasing effect sometimes returns to you. What more could you want?
