Description
Beautiful old quaint vintage tin with a hinged lid on the lid, a picture of the river Thames with some 18th century galleons. In the background the Tower of London. The sides of the can are reddish brown with gold details and sailing ships.
Sides of the tin are in reddish brown with gold details of sailing ship and anchor. The bottom and inside are gold colored. At the hinge the text: 12 MB container made in GT. Britain.
At the bottom of this tin is a sticker with, among other things, the text: "LONDON" Champ, Clarck & Lugano Sigarenfabrieken N.V.
Cigar maker used to be a profession with prestige. Good cigar makers were labeled as craftsmen.
From the year 1920 to about 1971 there was a large cigar factory in the center of Nieuwe Pekela. Champ Clark & Lugano Sig.fabr. v / h R.H. King & Son. was located at Albatrosstraat 2-3.
The company disappeared in 1971 due to financial difficulties. The factory buildings were demolished a few years later
