Description
Fantastic vintage James Pascall Harlequin Party candy tin from the late 50s or early 60s. The tin has a separate lid in a dark pink colour on which the brand name Pascall is located. The decoration of the tin itself shows various characters on the sides at a masquerade ball or large party and has a cheerful harlequin as the main figure. Balloons and streamers add to the party atmosphere. This round-shaped tin originally contained Pascall's White Heather chocolate and fudge. The tin is in a good vintage condition and only shows expected signs of use for an item of this age. The bottom of the tin reads: "Made by James Pascall Limited Mitcham, England."

At the bottom of the tin it says in relief and in English that the tin can be returned to the store and a deposit of 2 old shillings will be returned.

These types of vintage tins with attractive and whimsical designs are currently sought after collectables.

This candy tin is in a vintage condition with traces of use and age-related traces of wear. Pictures are part of the description.

Pascall
The company was founded on June 11, 1898 to acquire the business of a confectionery and chocolates manufacturer founded by Mr. James Pascall in the year 1866 and take over as a continuity. He had started a small shop on Oxford Street after working for Cadbury.

In 1877 they moved to larger premises in Blackfriars.

The "Furzedown Works" in Mitcham, on Streatham Road, was gradually built on land purchased in 1888 from land that was part of James Bridger's Manor Farm. For the next ten years production was with both Blackfriars and Mitcham. A fire that destroyed the Blackfriars factory in 1897 led to the Mitcham site becoming the main manufacturing site.

In the 1960s the company was bought by Cadbury-Fry. In March 1970 it was announced that the Mitcham factory would close and production moved to Cadbury in Birmingham.
