Description
Nice tin with various nostalgic images for Groningse Koek van Klinkhamer, but is of course also suitable for regular breakfast cake or gingerbread. This tin is equipped with a separate insert lid and suitable for a whole Groninger cake. Provided with texts such as:

• "From rye, fruit and candy, Klinkhamer bakes a Groningen delicacy".
• "Klinkhamerkoek is light because the best grain comes from the Hogeland".
• "The village of Uithuizen deserves a visit for the Menkemaborg and the Klinkhamerkoek."

Klinkhamer
In 1982 Klinkhamers Koekfabrieken B.V., in Uithuizen was taken over by Koninklijke Peijnenburg B.V. This company now manufactures gingerbread and Groninger cake.

Groninger koek is spiced cake from the province of Groningen. The cake somewhat resembles gingerbread, but in the area of origin it is mainly eaten with coffee. The main ingredients are rye and syrup.

There are different types of Groningen cake:

• Oalwief, also known as old woman's cake, sliced cake with anise
• Gingerbread
• Sukade cake

Uithuizen (Gronings: Oethoezen) is the capital of the municipality of Het Hogeland in the province of Groningen in the Netherlands. Until 1979 Uithuizen was an independent municipality, in that year it was merged with the former municipality of Uithuizermeeden to form Hefshuizen. The latter municipality was expanded in 1990 with the municipalities of Usquert, Warffum and Kantens. In 1992 the name of the municipality was changed to Eemsmond.
