Description
This vintage tin has a rectangular shape and was produced by Douwe Egberts for Pickwick tea. The tin is known as "The Pickwick House". The tin is equipped with a hinged lid. The design of the tin is based on a tea house. The decoration on the lid consists of roof tiles with a climbing plant and the brand name PICKWICK.

The sides of the tin show various images such as the inside of the tea house where various tea products are sold in the shop. A customer enters with his daughter through the door on the side. The back shows the loading of goods by the D.E. Pickwick wagon. To the side, the shop window is admired by a lady and two children.

Condition
This tea tin for Pickwick tea is in a good vintage condition with minimal traces of use and age-related traces of wear. Pictures are part of the description.

Douwe Egberts
In 1753 Egbert Douwes and his wife Akke Thijsses open their grocery store in colonial wares "De Witte Os". In this way, they lay the foundation for the Douwe Egberts and Pickwick brands on Midstraat in Joure. Coffee, tea and tobacco are the main products.

Pickwick
In 1937 Douwe Egberts Pickwick introduces tea. An English name was sought, because at that time tea still had a very "English" feel and an English stagecoach was depicted on the wooden boxes.
