Description
Rectangular tin with handle and fitted with a hinged lid. On the lid and sides are five images of people making music. The decoration of this tin consists of dark shades including the colours black, green and gold. Both on the lid and the sides, these people play stringed instruments, including; spinet, violin and mandolin. Lock on the front is missing. The tin has a beautiful old patina. What is special is that in this old version of the tin the handle or handle is on the front instead of on top.

Verblifa, De Vereenigde Blikfabrieken was a Dutch company that manufactured tin packaging, in addition to sheet iron items, enamel plates, household items, sheet metal and stamping, and cooking and heating items.
In 1930 Verblifa acquired practically all shares in the Woud & Bekkers Blikfabrieken, which under the former name Dordrechtsche Metaalwarenfabriek v / h Wed. J. Bekkers & Zoon continued as an independent company under Verblifa.
In 1936, together with the Dordrechtsche Metaalwarenfabriek v / h Wed. J. Bekkers & Zoon, founded a subsidiary, the NV De Vereenigde Automatenfabrieken V.A.F. in Amsterdam. After the war, a large interest was acquired in the Electro Tin Factory in Leeuwarden in 1949, and together with this company became de Mij in 1953. was established in Doesburg to manufacture 'Ducaat' heating and cooking appliances. In 1954, Verblifa also started manufacturing plastic items. At that time, the 8 factories and the head office employed approximately 3,450 workers. Ten years later, in 1964, around 2,400 people were still working. At the end of 1964, Thomassen & Drijver-Verblifa was created from a merger of T & D with De Vereenigde Blikfabrieken.
