Description
Vintage tin, square shape with a hinged lid. This tin has a seam that is visible on one of the corners. The word Thee (Tea) is written on one side of the lid.

The decoration consists of cream-white surfaces with red edges and decorated details in gold. The performances on the tin are embossed. These are in Eastern and show fishing men, a temple, a figure with a fan and a tree with blossom. There is an oriental sign on the lid. Text on bottom: container made in Holland.

Condition
This beautiful tin is in a good vintage condition with traces of use and age-related traces of wear. Photos are part of the description.

Koninklijke Theodorus Niemeyer BV has been a family-run business for a long period with origins from the trade in products from the (Dutch) colonies. Meindert Niemeyer started the trading-business on 25 March 1819.

The company sold products from the colonies, among which tobacco (brand-name Wapen van Rotterdam (Arms of Rotterdam). When son Theodorus Niemeyer took over the business they started producing and selling different brands: both under their own name but also supplying other companies (such as De Bijenkorf). The company then also started selling other goods from the colonies such as tea and coffee.
