Description
Vintage old aluminium coffee filter holder made by Artola equipped with three filter holes. The filter holder has a black plastic handle. Suitable for the coffee pot or as a cup filter.

The portafilter is in the shape of a cone and has ribs for a larger filter surface, allowing better extraction of the ground coffee. As early as 1936, the well-known cone-shaped filter paper was introduced that fitted into the conical filter top.

The best-known system is the so-called Melitta filter. This filter was invented by the housewife Melitta Bentz from Dresden, who obtained a patent for this on July 8, 1908. She came up with the idea because she was annoyed by the coffee grounds in the cups. She invented a paper filter, made from tissue paper from her son's school notebook, which she placed in a metal dish in which she had poked holes. When she received compliments from her ladies' wreath, she decided to apply for a patent. That same year she started a business.

What many people forget is the ribbed edge for folding use. The result of this is that the filter fits less well and can fold in half when brewing the coffee so that the water runs past the filter, or the coffee grounds still run over the edge of the filter.
