Description
This is an iconic West-Germany candlestick by Steuler after the design of the Austrian designer Cari Zalloni (1937-2012). This candlestick comes from the “Continua” series that was launched in 1966. The shape number is 149-15. The candlestick is in very good condition.

Condition
This earthenware candlestick is in a neat vintage condition with no significant traces of use or age-related traces of wear. Photos are part of the description.

Steuler
The Steuler Keramik factory was founded in 1917 by Georg Steuler in Höhr - Grenzhausen. Steuler reached a creative peak in the 1960s and 1970s and is best known for the 'Zyklon' series (rectangular vases) by designer Cari Zalloni (1960 - 1976). Most vases are of above-average quality. In the 1970s Steuler not only made vases but also table lamps.

Heiner Balzar's designs are mostly abstract and made in earth tones. The designs of Cari Zalloni are often geometric and executed in white, red or blue. The Facette decor is also designed by Zalloni.

Steuler was based in Höhr-Grenzhausen until 1996. From 1994 - 1996 the ceramics were made by the company Tonart Ververs, but due to lack of interest, the company closed in 1996. Steuler Fliesen GmbH, an independent part of Steuler since 1984, still exists today. At Georg Steuler Strasse 175 in

Signature: An ST monogram is embossed on the bottom. The word Germany is not used. Stickers always contain an ST monogram. Until the early 1960s, Steuler produced with reddish clay and then they switched to white clay. This was because there was more and more demand in the 60s and 70s.
