Brocante/vintage tin drum in brown and gold with relief and four birds on a bamboo branch, with lock and feet

Rectangular tin with hinged overhanging lid with rolled edge. Lock on the front in the middle at the height of the top (the key is missing). The bottom is provided with four flattened pyramid-shaped legs. The lid is equipped with two hinges with loose tabs. The legs are slid under the edge.

The decoration of this tin consists of a brown background with golden branches on the sides. The lid has a gold-coloured edge with decoration and is made in relief. The lid has a cream-coloured background and shows a representation of four brown-red birds on a bamboo branch with leaves in relief.

This tin is in good vintage condition with traces of use and age-related traces of wear. Photos are part of the description.

Verblifa, De Vereenigde Blikfabrieken was a Dutch company that manufactured tinplate packaging, besides sheet iron articles, enamel signs, household articles, sheet metal and stamping and cooking and heating articles.

In 1930 Verblifa acquired practically all the shares in the Woud & Bekkers Blikfabrieken, which operated under the former name Dordrechtsche Metaalwarenfabriek v/h Wed. J. Bekkers & Son continued as an independent company under Verblifa.

In 1936, together with the Dordrechtsche Metaalwarenfabriek v/h Wed. J. Bekkers & Zoon, established a subsidiary, NV De Vereenigde Automatenfabrieken V.A.F. in Amsterdam. After the war, a large interest was only acquired in the Electro Blikfabriek in Leeuwarden in 1949, and in 1953 the Mij was formed together with this company. was founded in Doesburg to manufacture 'Ducat' heating and cooking appliances. In 1954 Verblifa also started manufacturing plastic articles. At that time, approximately 3450 workers worked in the 8 factories and the head office. Ten years later, in 1964, it still employed approximately 2400 people. At the end of 1964, Thomassen & Drijver-Verblifa arose from a merger of T & D with De Vereenigde Blikfabrieken.
