Jamin is a chain of confectionery vendors as well as a former confectionery and ice cream factory.
In 1870 Cornelis Jamin (1850-1907) opened a chocolate shop in Rotterdam. The business was going well and he was able to expand. In 1880 he started sugar confectionery factories on Rodezand and Crooswijksekade, and in 1883 the first Jamin store opened. When Cornelis Jamin died in 1907, there were 50 Jamin stores in and around Rotterdam.
The four sons of Cornelis Jamin, Cornelis Jr., Louis, Pierre and Harry continue their father's business. In 1918 the company had 100 stores. In the mid-1920s there were 135 store branches, ten years later the number had more than doubled to around 300. In the 1950s and 1960s the number of Jamin stores grew to over 600. The Jamin factory moved from Rotterdam to Oosterhout in 1957.
Until the bankruptcy in 1985, the range consisted of candy, confectionery, nougat, cake, liquorice, chocolate products, packaged ice cream and cream pudding. Everything was manufactured in-house, transported and sold in our own stores.
